Proposal Title: Immersive Training for Sustainable Electric Vehicle Manufacturing

Proposal Summary:

EcoDrive XR is an innovative XR-based training project led by MATSUKO in partnership with the Secondary Vocational School of Industrial Technologies in Kosice-Saca, aimed at revolutionizing education in the electric vehicle (EV) industry. The project integrates advanced holographic technology and interactive 3D models to provide immersive virtual learning experiences focused on sustainable automotive manufacturing.

Key Objectives:

  • Prepare Skilled Labor for the EV Industry: Equip students with practical skills and knowledge for green automotive careers, particularly supporting Volvo’s upcoming EV factory in Slovakia.
  • Promote Sustainability & Circular Economy: Teach sustainable production techniques and circular economy principles to reduce environmental impact and advance carbon neutrality goals.
  • Enhance Educational Methods: Modernize local vocational curricula by combining traditional education with cutting-edge XR technology.
  • Advance Gender Equality: Encourage gender diversity in the automotive and engineering sectors.
  • Support EU Green Deal Goals: Align with European and global climate initiatives by fostering a carbon-neutral workforce.

  • Holographic Teachers: Leverages MATSUKO’s patented holographic technology to create lifelike 3D holograms of instructors, capturing over 80% of nonverbal communication for a realistic and engaging training experience.
  • Immersive Learning Environment: Provides interactive 3D models of EV components to simulate real-world production processes in a virtual classroom.
  • Personalized Learning Tools: Uses XR2LEARN’s emotion detection and adaptive learning systems to monitor student engagement and improve learning outcomes.
  • Modular Training Programs: Covers key stages of EV manufacturing, including battery chemistry, vehicle assembly, and sustainable practices, making the content scalable for global replication.
  • Industry Collaboration: Works closely with Volvo Cars and InoBat, ensuring training solutions meet real-world industry needs.

I’m Maria Vircikova, co-founder of MATSUKO and a researcher in AI and spatial computing.

In the EcoDrive XR, I lead the development of holographic learning modules that bring real human presence into vocational education through XR. I am involved in the discussion with the school and industrial stakeholders to ensure we’re creating immersive training experiences for electric vehicle manufacturing that are engaging and effective.

We are happy to be part of this as we are working in XR for many years. We invented Holographic presence technology for streaming people as holograms - not avatars - so I am particularly interested to provide this capacity for developers as an enabler in the project.

I’m Mário Caldas, and as part of the EcoDrive XR project team, I’m contributing as a Unity Developer focused on building the immersive educational modules. My responsibilities include developing interactive XR training content using Unity, creating 3D animations to visualize EV manufacturing processes, and implementing key functionalities that support student interaction and learning progression. I work closely with the content and design teams to ensure the modules are both technically robust and pedagogically effective. This includes coding the training logic, integrating holographic teacher content, and optimizing the experience for smooth performance across XR platforms. My goal is to help deliver a highly engaging and scalable training solution that supports sustainability, technical education, and the EU Green Deal objectives.

I’m Matus Kirchmayer, co-founder of MATSUKO. I lead the development and manage the team behind our real-time holographic communication technology, built on years of experience in 3D video games and spatial computing.

In the EcoDrive XR project, I’m responsible for the integration of our holographic presence technology with other enablers. Our focus is to bring real human presence into XR environments to create more engaging and effective training experiences.

At MATSUKO, we’ve been working at the forefront of XR and holographic presence for years, and I’m excited we can contribute this technology as a key enabler for the whole XR2Learn ecosystem. :+1: :rocket:
