The Magic Xroom

Hello everyone,

I’m Matteo Besenzoni, Researcher at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI).

I’d like to share with you all the Magic XRoom, a Virtual Reality (VR) application designed for researchers and developers working in human-computer interaction, affective computing, and immersive environments.

What is it?
The Magic XRoom enables the controlled collection of human emotional responses within customisable VR scenarios. It supports the synchronised acquisition of multimodal data, including:

  • Behavioural data
  • Physiological signals
  • Self-reported input

This makes it ideal for experimental setups involving emotion tracking, user studies, adaptive systems, or immersive UX evaluations.

With the help of @angelica.marsico I’ve prepared a short guide that walks through:

  • What the Magic XRoom is
  • How to set it up and use it
  • Examples of potential use cases in research and development

You can find the tutorial below.

If you’re involved in VR-based research or interested in multimodal data collection in immersive settings, I’d love your feedback or ideas!
