We’re happy to share that the X-DE-MAN project has successfully completed its academic validation phase at the AUGMENT3D LAB :tada:

The study involved 64 participants from the Università degli Studi di Parma, including employees, professors, bachelor and master students in Mechanical Engineering and Design, as well as researchers.

The validation was carried out over four dedicated days:

  • 19/12/2025
  • 08/01/2026
  • 20/01/2026
  • 22/01/2026
We started with a system stabilisation phase and progressed to a full large-scale pilot validation. During the study, we tested our VR training application using the Meta Quest headset and controllers, comparing its training effectiveness with standard training procedures. Trainees were assessed through paper-based tests and real disassembly exercises on real appliances, enabling a robust evaluation of both theoretical knowledge and hands-on skills.

The results highlight the strong potential of immersive VR training to improve learning outcomes and engagement. We’re extremely satisfied with this milestone and sincerely thank our partner MORE srl for the application development and continuous support. A huge thank you also to @xr2learn-admin, whose support played a key role in making this validation possible.

:crossed_fingers: :hot_pepper: Finger crossed for the next judgment step! :hot_pepper: :crossed_fingers:

:rotating_light: Alert: new partner embarked! :rotating_light:

We are proud to share the first industrial validation trial carried out with one of our stakeholders, TRED CARPI SPA, that we are happy to welcome along our partners in the frame of the XR2Learn Open Call2! :factory::handshake:

During this trial, we trained volunteer operators and practitioners using our VR application, with the goal of comparing this innovative approach to more classical training methods. Tred Carpi also gave us access to their facilities, which proved invaluable in refining our testing tools and performance metrics.

The discussion with operational experts provided key insights on how to further evolve the project - particularly the X-DE-MAN Beacon App - to better meet the real needs and targets of dismantling centers :dart:

A big thank you to the entire team (AUGMENT3D LAB, MORE srl & TRED CARPI SPA) for their openness, collaboration, and support. We hope this marks the beginning of a strong and long-term collaboration! :rocket:

The X-DE-MAN project is a stimulating and immersive experience which teaches how to intuitively and quickly disassemble electronic products. From my point of view, this could be a very valid solution to teach people how to handle these products during the dismantling phase, reducing electronic waste and helping the ecosystem. Ultimately, I hope that this methodology becomes one of the most implemented, so we can really understand how to recycle appliances correctly.

From Validation to Vision: Advancing XR Training with X-DE-MAN :sunglasses:

We would like to sincerely thank Electrolux Group and all the professionals who took part in the industrial large-scale pilot validation of the X-DE-MAN project.

The AUGMENT3D LAB and MORE srl teams had the pleasure of working at Electrolux’s facilities in Porcia, where we carried out extensive testing of the VR training application. The goal was to evaluate its effectiveness compared to standard learning approaches for the disassembly of household appliances - and the results and discussions exceeded expectations. :goggles::wrench:

Most importantly, we are deeply grateful for the brilliant insights and forward-looking feedback shared by the Electrolux team (Monica Celotto, Giancarlo Gerolin & all colleagues involved). Their contributions have been invaluable in helping us identify new directions and opportunities to expand the application scope of the X-DE-MAN platform, many of which will be carefully considered during the commercialization phase of the project.

This collaboration is a strong example of how industry and innovation can come together to shape the future of immersive industrial training. :handshake::sparkles:
Stay tuned - there’s much more to come. :eyes:
